A new report suggests that HTC has not backed out of its smartwatch plans completely, with its first Android Wear smartwatch expected to arrive in early 2015. Last week, it was said that the Taiwanese manufacturer has temporarily ditched its plans to launch an Android Wear offering due to the amount of competition it faces in the market. However, it is now being said that the manufacturer hasn’t given up but has merely postponed the launch of the wearable.
With the likes of the LG G Watch R, the ASUS ZenWatch as well as the Moto 360 launching almost simultaneously, HTC was probably right in waiting till the market matures. Since it’s still early days, there’s no word on what the smartwatch will pack in terms of features, but we can expect to see a premium design with the device.
Considering that the company is expected to bring the next Nexus tablet to the market, it’s not surprising that they’re contemplating the launch of a smartwatch as well. An HTC made Android Wear offering should fit in nicely with the current crop of devices. What do you think?
