The countdown for the Nexus 9 has officially begun with a new source claiming that the tablet will be officially announced on October 16. There’s no word on when the tablet will be available for purchase, but it goes without saying that Google will not want to wait long to bring the device to the market.
The information comes from Paul O’Brien of the MoDaCo fame who is familiar with the HTC community. The Nexus 9 will mark a major upgrade in the Nexus tablet lineup considering the hardware it is expected to pack. If past reports are anything to go by, the Nexus 9 will pack an 8.9 inch Quad HD display, a NVIDIA Tegra 4 SoC, 4GB of RAM and Android L.
Since the tablet is made by HTC, we expect to see a multitude of other changes on board as well (front facing speakers?). We’ve already seen the tablet’s keyboard case leaking out prematurely, so we have a brief idea of what to expect from Google and HTC’s next major tablet.
