HTC started making its core apps available on the Play Store so that it gets easier to fix bugs or add new features if and when necessary. And joining the likes of BlinkFeed, Gallery, Sense TV and Clock is the company’s default Lock Screen app which has just made its way to the Play Store. As other apps from the manufacturer, this one too is only compatible with HTC devices, so you’re not in luck if you own a non-HTC handset.
The lockscreen is pretty much the same as you would find on a One M8 or a Desire 816, so there are no visual changes on board here. The Play Store listing mentions that the app will keep customers from “unintentionally triggering factory reset”, which is possibly a reference to a previous bug. The app should work with any Sense 6 running HTC smartphone, including the wide range of midrange handsets which were launched over the course of 2014.
