Gionee has a reputation of launching super slim smartphones in the market. And today the company has taken the wraps off its latest handset the Elife S5.1, which is officially the slimmest smartphone in the world. Interestingly, the device has overtaken the company’s very own Elife S5.5 to take the crown.
As the name probably indicates, the Elife S5.1 is only 5.15mm thick which is quite remarkable for a modern smartphone. But of course, the thickness alone won’t sell a smartphone and Gionee is mindful of that. The handset is packing a 4.8 inch 720p AMOLED display, a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 SoC, an 8-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (non-expandable), a 2,100 mAh battery and Android 4.3 with Gionee’s custom UI on top.
While it’s no show stopper as far as the specs sheet is concerned, the Gionee S5.1 is certainly going to be talked about in the coming days. The manufacturer is yet to disclose pricing details of the smartphone, but it will be available for purchase in China later this month.
