The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active smartphone on AT&T is receiving a minor update which fixes some bugs and brings updated Google apps. This is slightly odd as Google apps are available through the Play Store and are updated independently of the carrier or manufacturer. AT&T also mentions connectivity related improvements in the changelog. The update is 127MB in size, so you don’t necessarily need to be on a WiFi connection to download this.
The update changes the build number to KOT49H.I537UCUCNH3. It is possible that the root access on the handset could be lost after the update, so be mindful of that. The Android version will remain Android 4.4.2 as Samsung and AT&T are yet to send in Android 4.4.4 for the device. As is usually the case with such updates, AT&T will be sending it out in batches, so don’t be surprised if it hasn’t hit your Galaxy S4 Active yet.
Customers of the Galaxy S4 Active have been complaining of having connectivity related issues ever since the Android 4.4.2 update was rolled out. So they will be relieved to know that the issue has been fixed now.
