A new benchmark listing has revealed the existence of the ASUS made Nexus Player console, which could potentially be one of the first Android TV based products to hit the markets. Google announced Android TV back during the I/O event in June, but mentioned that hardware will not be launched until later this year.
The GFX Bench listing suggests that the device has a screen size of 31.9 inches and 23.7 inches, but with no touchscreen, so it’s likely that this is merely a set top box like unit like the Amazon Fire TV. Other specs of the Nexus Player include a 1.8 GHz quad core Intel processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (5.8GB usable) and Android L running by default.
Google has teamed up with a multitude of manufacturers to bring Android TV hardware in the coming months, so this could potentially be the first of many to come this year. It is possible that the ASUS Nexus Player could be the first Android TV offering to hit the markets, so this is certainly not the last time we’re hearing from it.
