Amazon reportedly exploring the wearables segment

Amazon has taken great strides over the past few years. Going from an e-commerce retailer to a manufacturer with its Kindle e-book readers and subsequently the Kindle Fire tablets and the Fire Phone recently, the company has certainly come a long way over the years. A new report is now hinting that the retailer is looking to join the wearables segment as well with a possible Google Glass like offering.

The company is also believed to be working on a home automation based WiFi device which would stick to your closet or door and let you order necessary items online with the press of a button. However, it is being emphasized that the two products might not go beyond the developmental phase, meaning that it’s too early in the day to tell.

But it should surprise no one if Amazon takes this step in order to gain more traction in the market. The recently launched Fire Phone has been a disappointment so far, even though AT&T reduced the contract price of the device to just $0.99. We will keep a close eye for more information on this alleged wearable from Amazon as well as the home automation unit.
