It looks like owners of the HTC One M8 on Verizon are in for an extended wait for the Android 4.4.3 update. HTC’s US president, Jason Mackenzie, has revealed on Twitter that the update has been pushed back to mid-September in order to give the software team time to fix a GPS issue. Oddly, a GPS issue was fixed on T-Mobile’s M8 and pushed out along with the 4.4.3 update yesterday, so we’re guessing the bug was found later on the Verizon variant.
Android 4.4.3 will bring mostly security and bug fixes, along with improvements to connectivity and the front-facing BoomSound speakers. For the Verizon variant, the update will also bring HTC’s Extreme Power Saving Mode, which has been available on other carrier variants since a few months. Hopefully, the mid-September date won’t be postponed any further, though given we’re talking about Verizon, delays aren’t something that can always be avoided.
