As expected, Sprint has finally made its new family plan official which gives users 20GB of data to spend every month for $100. Families can add up to 10 lines to eat off their data bucket, so this is ideal if you live in a large social circle. This revised plan will be available starting August 22 and will last until the end of 2015. For a limited period, Sprint is also offering an extra 2GB per line in addition to the 20GB of shared data, so there’s plenty to be excited about if you’re a Sprint user.
The only caveat here is the network coverage in your area as Sprint is yet to cover the entirety of the U.S. with its 4G LTE signals. But if you have access to the carrier’s networks in your region, this is a very attractive proposition. It manages to beat the competition quite handsomely in terms of pricing and data offered. T-Mobile’s family plan costs the same, but only offers half the data and access to just four members. AT&T and Verizon on the other hand charge $160 per month for 10GB of shared data, which is also shared across four members.
It will be interesting to see if a disruptive plan like this will stop existing customers from leaving the carrier. What do you think?
