Sprint to announce a $50 fully unlimited plan tomorrow?

Sprint is currently the #3 carrier in the U.S. behind Verizon and AT&T. But the likes of T-Mobile have made significant damage to Sprint’s customer base with several cost effective plans. However, it is now being speculated that the carrier could have something big up its sleeve to show off this week. The Wall Street Journal reports that Sprint is looking to introduce a $50 fully unlimited plan this week, taking on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile effectively.

Details on this are very scarce right now, but hopefully we’ll get to know more about it tomorrow at the company’s event. This could be coupled with its announcement of the Sharp Aquos Crystal smartphone as we spoke about earlier today. The carrier currently has a fully unlimited plan for $110, so it’s quite a big reduction in price and a welcome addition from the customers’ perspective.

It is being said that the carrier will also announce a new 20GB data plan shared across four lines for $160 per month. Most carriers today offer a similar tariff but only with 10GB of data. This could be the much needed boost for the carrier to curb its losing marketshare.

  1. Kind of hard to take on the “big boys” when your coverage area is only in larger cities, and, along major highways.
