The Oppo N1 from last year was quite popular with its unique swiveling camera technology, which meant that the rear camera could also double as the front facing camera. And it seems like Sony is coming up with something similar, but with an odd looking shape. What you see above is supposedly a standalone camera based on Android, packing a 3 inch display as a viewfinder. But unlike the Oppo N1, the sensor on this camera swivels sideways and not vertically. But fundamentally, the concept is pretty much the same.
The design is not something we see a lot around us either, so Sony is clearly trying something new here. In addition to being a camera, this unnamed device also comes with features like WiFi, NFC etc for sharing on the go. There’s no word on whether there will be a cellular variant, but we should get more clarity on that at the IFA event next month. The camera on the device is said to have an Exmor RS sensor with a size of 1/2.3″, so it’s no slouch in the camera department either.
Will you be drawn towards a device like this? Sound off below.
