Sony Xperia Z1 mod enables stereo sound output using the earpiece

The Sony Xperia Z2 brought a couple of upgrades over the Xperia Z1, and one of the most welcome ones are the stereo speakers on the front of the device. Xperia Z1 owners, while still owning a fairly capable device, have to make do with sound from a single small loudspeaker that produces rather muffled sound thanks to the phone’s waterproofing, but thanks to a new mod, Xperia Z1 users can now enable a second source of sound on their device.

XDA Developers member dontbelive has released a new hack that enables the earpiece when music or other sources of sound are played, resulting in a stereo effect without the need for adding in a new speaker (or buying the Xperia Z2.) Naturally, earpieces don’t offer the most high-quality sound and are only just reserved for calls, but for anyone looking for improved sound on their Xperia Z1, the mod should come in pretty handy, as long your device is rooted.

As always, mods like these have a high chance of messing things up on a device, so make sure you take the necessary backups before installing it on your Xperia Z1. Head over to the source link for all the details and to download the relevant files, and let us know in the comments about your experience after using the nifty little mod.
