Two of Sony’s midrange smartphones, the Xperia E1 and the E1 Dual are now getting the Android 4.4 update for the very first time. The smartphones were launched with Android 4.3 last year, so this is quite a major update. The standard KitKat specific changes will be on board including the new status bar icons as well as some customized software tweaking from Sony. The company has also promised to roll out the update to Xperia M2 and M2 Dual handsets in the coming weeks, but it could take a while.
As for owners of the Xperia E1 and the E1 Dual, the update should be already on its way, but make sure you check the settings if it hasn’t arrived yet. Also bear in mind that the update could take some time to reach all units depending on the location, so hang in there if it’s not showing up yet. As always, be sure to leave a comment below if your Xperia E1 or the E1 Dual has already received the Android 4.4 update. It’s good to see Sony sending out updates to its budget devices as well, which will retain some faith among its loyal customers.
