We saw LG posting a teaser for a circular display smartwatch which is expected to be announced at next week’s IFA event in Berlin. And it seems like Samsung is keen to show off something similar of its own, not giving much of a breathing room for the Moto 360 which was expected to be the only circular display smartwatch to land in the markets this year.
At this point, there’s no clarity on whether this Samsung smartwatch would run Android Wear or Tizen, but it’s likely that we’ll hear more about it at next week’s event in Berlin. This device will reportedly be accompanied by a Gear smartwatch that has cellular connectivity, which would most probably be based on Tizen as Android Wear is only meant to work as a companion accessory and not a standalone device.
This is of course combined with the Gear VR head mounted wearable which will also be shown off sometime during the company’s September 3 event. We hope to have more information on all these accessories as well as the Galaxy Note 4 by next Wednesday.
