LG has received a lukewarm response so far for the LG G Watch, mostly due to the fans’ expectations with the Moto 360. And it seems like the Korean manufacturer has managed to gauge the public interest for a smartwatch sporting a circular design, as it is now teasing the launch of such a wearable at next week’s IFA event.
With LG already done with its quota of flagships for the year, it will certainly hope to steal the show with this smartwatch in Berlin next week. The teaser shows off round watch faces and gives us a hint of the name as well, with the mention of the alphabet ‘R’ at the start of the video. Based on this, it would be a safe assumption to make that the device will be known as the LG G Watch R.
The smartwatch is also believed to be using an AMOLED panel this time around for better viewing angles and stronger battery backup. So it could already have an upper hand compared to the Moto 360 if LG plays its cards right, mostly with regards to the pricing. A leak from last week told us that the Moto 360 will be priced at about $250, so expect the G Watch R to cost about the same when it breaks cover next month.
