LG seems to be the next big thing in the mobile industry with widely popular smartphones like the LG G2 and more recently the G3, taking the markets by storm. And based on the demand for its flagship smartphone, analysts are expecting the company to sell north of 60 million smartphones by the end of 2014. Of course, this will also include several midrange and budget smartphones sold by the company, but overall, it could be a very fruitful year for the company.
Analysts from Daewoo Securities were a bit generous in their estimations by predicting 62 million in sales this year, although a couple of other Korean firms have settled with the 60 million mark. It’s certainly not as much as Samsung, which is oddly seeing a bad year so far with profits and marketshare taking a hit.
The last quarterly results from LG showed a 165% increase in profits compared to the same period last year while smartphone sales were an estimated 14.5 million. Going by that, it shouldn’t be a big ask to cross the 60 million mark by the end of the year. The company can expect more sales as we head into the latter part of the year with the holiday season on the cards.
