Chairman of Huawei, Yu Chengdong, sat down for an interview with the media recently where he gave out juicy information on the company’s upcoming flagship. Believed to be the successor to the Ascend P7, he said that the smartphone will pack a sapphire glass display and even had a unit in his pocket to show. Sadly, no pictures are available of the device at the moment, but needless to say, durability will be one of its strong suits.
Given that it’s still early days, we might have to wait a couple of months before the manufacturer launches the handset. This will mean that the company won’t be able to beat Apple to the punch, which is also believed to be working on introducing Sapphire Glass displays for its upcoming flagship(s).
Huawei is also looking to create more awareness about its brand among the common public. With a company which is quite popular as a smartphone maker in China, but not so much elsewhere, this could be a top priority. The manufacturer is also reportedly looking to broaden its presence in the e-commerce sector to sell devices directly to the consumers, thus negating the need for a middleman.
