The HTC Desire 816 handset will be arriving through Virgin Mobile USA starting today. The off contract carrier will sell the smartphone for just $299.99, which is a great bargain for one of the top midrangers selling from HTC. The device can be categorized as a phablet as it packs a 5.5 inch display, although it’s quite commonplace in the mobile industry these days. Data plans start from $35 per month which comes with unlimited texts and 300 voice minutes, while $55 will fetch you a fully unlimited plan.
The Desire 816 packs all the software features from the HTC One M8 such as Zoe, BlinkFeed and plenty of other Sense 6.0 related goodies. It also has the iconic front facing dual BoomSound speakers, much like the One M8, although the quality of speakers used here is different. The body is made up of plastic, so don’t expect any premium materials here. The device also packs a 720p display, 1.6 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 SoC, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot, a 2,600 mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
