Google believed to be working on a Moto Maker like customization tool called Workshop

Nexus 5 - Workshop -1

Motorola made the Moto X popular using its customization friendly Moto Maker online tool, allowing users to change the colors of the back panel as well as the accents according to their liking. A new leak has revealed that Google could be interested in a similar service known as Workshop. Screenshots showing this online tool in action are already making the rounds, giving us a better idea of what to expect.

It is said that Workshop will allow users to add images either from their computer or the default Google+ albums with a feature known as Moments. Workshop will also have something known as MapMe allowing users to create custom cases for their smartphones depending on their location and design it based on that. So in that sense, it’s certainly more versatile compared to Moto Maker. In addition to creating patterns for cases, users will also be able to design custom live wallpapers.

There’s no word on when the service will go live, but it seems like Google is currently testing this only with the Nexus 5. It is likely that the service will be officially introduced in the coming weeks, as the tool appears to be ready and functioning.
