S4 Headset Issues

Problem: Hello, I read your article about headset problem solutions at your site but I couldn’t quite understand what my phone’s problem is. I don’t know if you reply or not but I want to learn what problem is before going to a technican because usually in my country when a phone goes to tech, it comes with more problems so I want to find out if I can be able to solve this with your help. My phone is pretty new, just about 3 or 4 months. Problems are; when I tried to listen fm radio that comes with phone, I can’t hear anything but I downloaded Tunelin radio from google play and I can listen very well . And I can’t hear anything from youtube video’s but I can hear facebook videos. When  I tried to talk to anyone with headset I hear so little voice from headphones and my voice does not goes to person who I talk, because of that I thought mic wasn’t working.I tried to record voice but I cannot hear my recording. I tried to use S Voice and I can use headset mic my voices goes pretty well galaxy understands me. I couldn’t understand what problem is really its complicated. What can I do what is the problem if you can help I will apreciate it. Thank you.

Solution: The first thing you should do is to test if this is an issue caused by the headset that you are using. Try using another headset (preferable one made by Samsung) and see if the issue still occurs. If the problem still exists then it’s time to check the phone itself.

Check for any software updates available for your device and install them. These updates will usually contain improvements and fixes that may address the issue you are facing.

To test if the issue is caused by a third party app that you may have installed boot your device in Safe Mode then check if the issue still exists.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • When ‘Samsung Galaxy S4’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

Does the problem only occur when you use the headset? Try playing YouTube videos or make a voice recording without using the headset. If you can hear the sound then we can isolate this as a headset issue.

Check on the headset port and see if there are any dirt present. Try cleaning the port with a toothpick.

S4 Multiple Issues On Version 4.3

Problem: Hi, My phone worked perfectly until I had it fixed at a shop due to network connectivity issues. I wasn’t sure if the problems started after that, but I also performed wipe data/factory reset twice since the connectivity problem returned after a couple of days. Since then I started noticing these problems.

1. Video recording doesn’t work and gives the error message “warning: recording failed”. Even on Instagram, video recording feature doesn’t work.

2. Multi window doesn’t work and says “flashbar service has stopped”. I already tried clearing cache and data on flashbar but still doesn’t work.

3. My mobile data doesn’t work anymore. I can connect to wifi just fine. When connecting to mobile data, it used to give me the message to turn my roaming on, but when I turn it on, nothing still happens. Now there is no roaming message anymore but nothing happens when mobile data is turned on. The signal bars/icon on top of the screen doesn’t even show up.

4. My S Memo is not working anymore. I can enter the app but when I try to create a new note or click on anything, it gives me the message “Unfortunately, S Memo has stopped”.

I already did factory settings reset twice (I think) but it didn’t help.

Please help me find a solution to these problems. These features are very important in a phone. I would really appreciate your response. Thank you. Regards

Solution: When your device is facing multiple issues the quickest way to troubleshoot it is to perform a factory reset. In your case you said that you already performed it but it still didn’t help.

You may want to check if there are any new software updates available for your device. If there are then download them and install them.

Do a soft reset on your device

  • Remove the Back cover by gently lifting up from the slot.
  • Remove the Battery by pulling upward from the slot.
  • Let the device stand for sixty seconds.
  • Align the metal contacts and slide the Battery into the Battery slot.
  • Replace the Back cover and press firmly into place.
  • Press the Power key to power the device on.

If all else fails then you may want to bring your device to an authorized service center for further checking as this may already be a hardware related issue.

S4 Can’t Open Gallery After Installing Clean Master

Problem: Hello there,so hope you can help a techno phobe !! I foolishly followed advice to use Clean Master……BIG MISTAKE!!! I now cannot open my gallery and the phone freezes and reboots itself, its all gone slow and I am terrified I will lose my photos altho I did save them to my sd card. please adise me how to put this all right, in “idiotproof” language please

Solution: What you need to do first is to uninstall Clean Master.

  • Touch Apps
  • Scroll to and touch Settings
  • Touch More
  • Touch Application Manager
  • Touch Clean Master
  • Touch Uninstall
  • Touch Ok

Now that Clean Master has been uninstalled reboot your device. Check and see if you can access your Gallery or if your phone works faster.

If you are still experiencing the same issue then you will need to back up your device using the latest Kies software installed in your computer ( if you don’t have the software just download it from the Samsung site).

To back up your data

  • Connect your Galaxy S4 to PC using the USB data cable, and then launch the Kies software.
  • Click the Back up/Restore tab and then select Backup.
  • Here, you can select the items that you would like to backup or check Select all items.
  • Click Backup to begin saving the selected items to your PC. The destination folder is shown at the bottom of the Back up/Restore screen.

After this you can perform a factory reset on your device.

  • Turn the phone off completely.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons.
  • Release the Power button when the phone vibrates but continue holding on to the Volume Up and Home buttons.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release both the Home and Volume Up buttons.
  • Using the Volume Down key, highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press the Power button to select it.
  • Using the Volume Down button again, highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press the Power key to select it.
  • Once the reset is complete, choose ‘Reboot system now.’
  • Press the Power button to restart the phone.

It’s time to restore your data

  • Connect your Galaxy S4 to PC using the USB data cable, and then launch the Kies software.
  • Go to Back up/ Restore > Restore.
  • Next, choose the appropriate backup file on the Select the backup file to restore drop down menu.
  • Then, check the items that you would like to restore or check Select all items.
  • Click Restore.

Your phone should be fixed by now.

S4 No Notification On Calls

Problem: Some of my calls do not activate my phones ringtone. I pick them up in my logs later as missed calls. My galaxy S4 is an unlocked 19500 which I have sim carded to the ATT Straight Talk network. Can you offer any solution to this problem? Thank you.

Solution: To confirm if your phone ringtone does not activate try using another phone and call your own phone. If possible try repeating the procedure using phones from different carriers. If the ringtone notification is normal then the missed calls in your logs may simply be calls that were made to your device but disconnected by the caller after a few seconds. It would still register in your log but it won’t be enough to play the full ringtone. This case usually occurs if you use a custom ringtone such as a music file that you have. You may want to try using the default ringtones for now and observe if you are still missing calls.

S4 Does Not Read SD Card

Problem: About 4hrs ago, everything on my phone was working perfectly fine.I was using my camera to record a video when the playblack crashed and the phone suddenly did a restart. When the phone booted back up again, the phone could no longer read the SD Card. I did several restarts and took out the SD Card and put it back in again and still the phone refuses to see the SD Card. I know the problem ISN’T the SD Card because when I put the SD card into an adapter and plug it into my computer, the computer can read and see everything on the card. Any one else have this problem and know how to solve it? My phone isn’t rooted or hacked. Thanks!

Solution: It doesn’t necessarily mean that if the SD card can be detected by your PC and not by your Android device it isn’t a problem with the SD card. A PC is more tolerant of SD card errors which is why it can still read it. Your best option right now is to make a backup of the data in your SD card by saving it somewhere in your computer. After this you have to reformat your card using your computer. Reinsert the freshly formatted card in your phone and check if it can now be detected.

S4 64GB SD Card Unmounting Issue

Problem: I bought a samsung 64gb for my samsung galaxy as. It has worked fine for about a month or so and then all of a sudden started unmounting itself and now my ad card doesn’t pull up at all! When it first started, every once in a while it would just show back up on the phone, but now it doesn’t show up at all! What can I do to try to get it to work again? I have urged to unmount in and remount it and restarted the phone and nothing is working! I can’t find my card reader anywhere to try to see if it will read from the computer! Do you have any other suggestions since it has worked on and off and now nothing??? Thank you for your time and have a great day!!

Solution: You need to check if this is an SD card issue by inserting another SD card in your device. If the unmounting issue does not occur then chances are that the problem is with your 64 GB SD card. Try finding your card reader and connect the card to your computer. Backup its data and reformat it. Alternatively, you can also try connecting your phone with a USB cord to your PC (connect as mass storage) but since your card is uncounted I doubt if this will work.

You may also want to try to perform the following troubleshooting steps below as suggested by Samsung.

  • Remove the SD card and reinsert the card
  • Perform a soft reset by turning off the handset
  • Remove the battery and wait for 30 seconds
  • Reinsert the battery and turn ON the device

You must also check if there are any new software updates for your device and install them. These updates contains improvements and fixes that may address the issue you are facing right now.

S4 Error Downloading MTP Drivers

Problem: When I connect my S4 to my computer, the computer will load all drivers except MTP driver.  I am unable to transfer files from my phone and computer.  I’ve searched for a solution, re-downloaded drivers and updated windows media player, but to no avail.  I’ve used Kies in the past but would like to directly interface with my computer.  My phone is rooted and my computer is running 64 bit windows 7.

Solution: Make sure you are using the original USB cable that came with your device when connecting it to your computer. If the MTP drivers still doesn’t load then disconnect your phone form the computer. Turn off your phone and remove the battery. Replace the battery after a few seconds then restart your phone and connect it again to your computer. The MTP drivers should load right now.

S4 Mobile Data Randomly Turns On

Problem: Hi there. On my S4 appears mobile data sometimes suddenly on although I surely turned it off. Even a smart network switch is off. I don’t know if any app could switch it on when I switch it off manually…

Solution: This issue is most likely caused by a third party app that’s trying to access the Internet. What you need to do is to boot your device in Safe Mode and see if the issue still occurs.

After observing that your device does not randomly turn on your mobile data in Safe Mode then the issue is caused by a third party app. You need to find out what app is causing this and uninstall it.

As a final resort you can also perform a factory reset on your device. Just make sure to backup your data first.

S4 “unfortunately Samsung Video has stopped” Error

Problem: Recently when I try to open the Samsung Video app, on my S4 an error message pops up stating “unfortunately Samsung Video has stopped”. Any idea why? How can it be rectified? Thanks in advance

Solution: This problem is most likely caused by a corrupted cache data. What you need to do is to simply clear the cache of your Samsung video app.

To clear cache

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • On the More tab, tap Application manager.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap the desired application.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • The application cache is now cleared.

S4 Battery Swap Causes Cloned Data

Problem: Hey, I wanted to see if you had ever heard of this issue I am currently experiencing. My husband and I have the same Samsung S4 devices. My battery was dead, so I switched it out for my husband’s cell battery. Upon starting back up, my cell was displaying all my husband’s cell stuff (apps, images, etc.). I changed the batteries back to my cell having the dead battery. Charged the dead battery up, started my cell again and still see my husband’s stuff. Thank You for any thoughts you might have on this issue. FYI – I did not change any SD or sim card on devices, just removed batteries.

Solution: This is the first time that I have heard of such issue. Since you both have the same Galaxy S4 devices could it be that you have mistaken your husband’s phone for your phone? It’s really impossible for the data of one device to be transferred to another simply by just switching batteries. You could also try asking your husband if he used your device. He might have installed his apps in your phone and transferred his data to your device.
