Cricket Wireless launching the ZTE Grand X on August 8

ZTE Grand X

Cricket Wireless has announced the arrival of a new budget offering from ZTE known as the Grand X, starting next Friday on the 8th of August. The smartphone will set you back by $99.99 off contract after a $50 mail-in rebate. The rebate is only available if you purchase the device before the 11th of September.

The Grand X sports a 5 inch 720p display, a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, a 2,300 mAh battery, a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 1-megapixel front facing shooter. The smartphone is running Android 4.3 out of the box, which isn’t the latest by any means, but not all that bad for a midrange offering.

Cricket Wireless is offering unlimited plans starting from $35 a month, with several more to choose from. The smartphone supports Cricket’s 4G networks as well, so customers will not have to settle with 3G HSPA speeds using the Grand X. While the smartphone will not appeal to everyone out there, ZTE and Cricket Wireless will hope to attract a large chunk of the midrange audience with the Grand X.
