The existence of Android L is no secret to us as Google made it public back in June. However, the company never really told us what its final name will be, leaving much to our imagination. And now a new benchmark result coming from the famed leakster TK Tech News confirms that the upcoming Android release will be known as Android 5.0. It has been said that the new version of Android will be known as Lemon Meringue Pie, following the tradition of naming new Android versions after desserts (alphabetically).
The benchmark listing also reveals that the smartphone will pack a 2.7 GHz quad core Snapdragon 805 SoC, 3GB of RAM as well as a 13-megapixel camera sensor. Oddly enough, despite featuring a Snapdragon 805 SoC, the smartphone is shown to be scoring quite low even compared to weaker Snapdragon 801 devices, but this is most likely due to the Android version being new. Expect this to change as the device hits the markets later this year.
Although it was a certainty that the version number would change with this iteration, it’s good to finally get some clarification.
