Among the current crop of smartwatches, the Moto 360 stands out in a big way thanks to its unique circular display design. But it seems like Samsung might not be far away from having such a smartwatch of its own someday. The Korean manufacturer has filed design patents for three such smartwatches with American authorities.
The smartwatches shown here have charging ports on the edge of the wristband, meaning that they won’t be user replaceable. Also, there seems to be a camera on the strap, which hints that these could be Tizen based offerings as Android Wear doesn’t support camera as of yet. It’s certainly a welcome addition to the smartwatch industry since what we’ve seen so far are identical offerings. Samsung has innovated in terms of design with smartwatches like the Gear 2 and the Gear Fit earlier this year, so this won’t be the first for the company.
Hopefully, we’ll see some of these smartwatches breaking cover during the IFA event in September, which is when the Galaxy Note 4 is expected to launch as well.
