LG G3 Prime with Snapdragon 805 spotted in a Korean ad

LG G3 Cat. 6

Shortly after Samsung launched a “Prime” version of the Galaxy S5 in South Korea to support Cat.6 bands (LTE-A), its regional rival LG has followed suit with the G3. Dubbed as the G3 Cat. 6, the smartphone has made an appearance in a local ad, although the company hasn’t made a formal announcement yet. It’s clear that this is LG’s way of countering Samsung’s offering and thus leveling the playing field to some extent.

This also means that the device will probably remain an exclusive to the region and won’t make its way outside Korea anytime soon as these LTE bands are not supported globally. So the only difference with this new variant of the LG G3 is the addition of the Snapdragon 805 chipset in place of the Snapdragon 801 SoC on the standard variant. The announcement of this device will certainly irk customers who recently bought the LG G3 in South Korea, but we hope there will be some sort of a trade-in program to help them get on track.
