Google Maps is one of the most widely used mobile navigation applications in the world today. And to make the experience more better for the consumers (and rake in some more money), Google has decided to bring some new ads into the Maps application on desktop and mobile. These ads will be relevant to the user’s search and will also show out the location of the ad in question (restaurants, gyms etc) on the map itself.
On the mobile version, the ad will appear right on top of the screen with a pointer on the map as well. The ad extensions aren’t going anywhere and users will still be able to find ratings, reviews as well as Street View based images for that particular ad.
It’s certainly not going to hamper the user experience in any way and will in turn help people who are new to the area in discovering local hot spots. The update should be rolled out to Maps gradually depending on your location, so you should be able to see the changes soon enough.
