Galaxy S3 Won’t Turn On

Problem: Hey, My partners phone has literally tonight when he tried to charge it just decided not to turn on. It’s been on charge an hour and won’t go past the Samsung S3 screen. Keeps flashing. We tried taking battery out & sim, then tried putting my battery in and it was still no better. When he put his back for a freak moment it turned on saying 35% battery but then just kept flashing again. Back to sq one! We tried all your steps on your blog to safemode and reboot but none worked. It’s not the charger either as mine is fine. HELP

Solution: The steps which you did were all correct. You eliminated any third party app that may be causing the issue by booting to safe mode and you isolated the charger or battery. You might want to do a factory reset on your phone. Be aware that any data which is stored in your phone will be lost in this process.

To do a factory reset

  • Turn the phone off
  • With the phone still off, hold down the ‘Power’, ‘Volume Up’ and ‘Menu’ buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds. Release them when you see the green android logo. This’ll get you into the unlock/reset menu.
  • Scroll down and select ‘Wipe Data/Factory Reset’. (You can use the volume buttons to scroll up/down and the power button to confirm selections.)
  • Select ‘Yes – Delete All User Data’.
  • Select ‘Reboot System Now’. The phone then reboots to factory settings

If this solves the issue then the problem may have been with the software. If it doesn’t then this could already be a hardware issue. In this case you would need to have your device checked at an authorized service center.

Galaxy S3 Bluetooth Issue

Problem: Hey Droid Guy, This isn’t a problem connecting with Blue Tooth, it does it every time I get a text message.  Text comes in, Blue tooth picks it up and my cell phone number comes up as connected on the screen in my car.  If I had to guess, I’d say that the phone is trying to send the text message via voice, as some newer cars do that.  But I have a 2009 Audi and it doesn’t do that.  At least I don’t think.  I should check the manual.  Anyway, I get a lot of texts and it means my phone is constantly dialing its own number in the car.  Any ideas how to turn this off?  I’ve tried re-pairing the phone and looked at all my settings.  Nothing popped out. Thanks.

Solution: There could be a setting in your car that should disable this. Unfortunately I don’t have your car model which could help me search for a solution. I can help you on the phone side of things though. First make sure that you are running the latest software on your device by checking if there are any updates. New updates mean that several improvements have been added by Samsung which could include a fix for the issue you are facing. You can also try rebooting your device then reconnecting again via Bluetooth to your Audi.

Galaxy S3 Stuck At Boot Logo

Problem: Hi there..I really hope that u can help me to fix my s3..I can’t reboot my s3..this happened after about a week my s3 updated to 4.3 jelly bean..I already take off my battery and put it back but it will reboot itself..It will stuck at ‘SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 GT-I9300’ or if I charge it will stuck at the battery icon..but if I hold home+power button+volume (up or down) it can go to the recovery mode or ODIN mode without and not stuck at all..I already try to wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset but it didn’t work out..I also try using KIES to upgrade and initialize also failed..by using KIES, it will not detect my s3 or it tells me that my s3 cannot be upgrade..and one more thing, I find out that there is a lot of ‘E : can’t mount/cache/recovery (block device required)’ or any other things that said ‘Can’t’ when I wipe cache partition or wipe data factory..Pls help me..thank you

Solution: Your device may have a corrupt software. If Kies cannot detect your phone then you may have to reinstall the stock ROM. If you ae not familiar with the process then its best to bring your device to an authorized service center and let them perform the procedure.

Basically when restoring the stock ROM of your device you will need the specific ROM designed for your model, a PC with the Samsung drivers installed as well as the latest Odin software, USB debugging enabled on your phone (Settings>Developer Options>Tick the Usb debugging tick box), and at least 80% battery charge on your phone.

Procedure

  • Turn of phone
  • Go to Download Mode (Press and holding Volume Down, Home and Power button simultaneously until Samsung Galaxy logo appears in phone screen. Wait few seconds and your phone will be in download mode.)
  • Open Odin as administrator and connect your S3 to your PC with a USB cable
  • You will get a message “Added” in the message box in Odin and You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device. (If you don’t get this , try another USB port.. if it still doesn’t come , reinstall drivers)
  • Select these files from I9300XXEMC3 folder in Odin at respective buttons: Click the PDA Button, and select the .tar.md5 file here with *code* appearing in its name; Click the Phone Button, and select file with *modem* in its name (leave if there is no such file) ; Click the CSC Button, and select file with *csc* in its name (leave if there is no such file); Click the PIT Button, and select the .pit file. Use only if you got it while extracting , otherwise ignore it.
  • Make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also, make sure that Re-Partition checkbox is selected, only if you are using a .pit file
  • Hit start
  • Once the flashing process is complete the phone will reboot. When you see a PASS message in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin you can unplug the USB cord.

Galaxy S3 Blue Dots Showing In Camera

Problem: Hi. I’m hoping you may have come across this issue before and are able to shed some light and maybe provide a solution to it. When using the camera on my gs3, there are blue dots/lines that show up on the screen and imprint themselves in every photo and video I take. It started off with 1 little line and over time got much worse. Now there are many dots and lines.

Solution: Try rebooting your device then take a picture. Send this picture to your PC and open it from there. If the blue dots/lines are still visible then this could already be a camera sensor issue. For this scenario you will have to replace the camera sensor of your device. There is no easy way that a regular consumer can do this so it’s best to being your device to an authorized service center.

Galaxy S3 Does Not Charge

Problem: when i updated my s3 version to 4.3 … it was like a disaster, it faced alot of proplems .. the most annoying ones were the discharging of the battery … it ends in no time even if i’m not using the interent it may only stay for 7 hours … the other proplem is that the charger charges my device very slowley it may take 5 hours to charge only 50%,… so i brought back my original vergion 4.1.2 … hoping that all the proplems will be solved .. every thing became pretty good… but those 2 proplems havent been solved yet ..i dont know why the battery still discharging so soon .. but i tried lots of charges no one charged my mobile except one and i cant have it .. so I want to know what is the proplem and how to solve it ….. because its pretty strange that ever since i update the 4.3 version and those 2 proplem appeared …excuse me for my english :’D

Solution: Whenever you are faced with different issues on your device right after an update it is always best to do a factory reset. Most of these issues are usually caused by software data that is left from the previous version and the only way to get rid of it is to do a factory reset. Just make sure that you make a backup of all your important personal data first.

Galaxy S3 Issues After Update

Problem: Hello. I have a Sprint S3 and after update to 4.4.2, these are the issues I have encountered: randomly shuts down, touchwiz has slowed down, the cameras response is slower, just the overall performance of the phone is horrible. Sometimes its so bad when typing a text, the letters freeze on the screen b/c the phone cant keep up with the typing (I am slow typer). Today was frustrating when I tried to take pics and it turned off automatically when I pushed the ‘pic’ button. Thanks for help

Solution: This is similar to the problem posted above. You might want to do a factory reset on your device to resolve these issues. Make sure to backup your data before performing the procedure.

Galaxy S3 Cannot Make Voice Call After Update

Problem: Hi Droid Guy, I’ve tried everything to get my Samsung s3 working again. I need expert help. Here is the background: Running on Straight Talk network – called support twice with no resolution, HW version: SCH-S960L, Android Version: 4.1.2. I can text and access the internet, cannot place a voice call.  I get a “call ended” message each time I try to make a call.  I can call 911 only. I’ve reset the phone to factory setting, updated the PRL and updated the Profile several times with no results.  I also topped up the phone just to be sure.  Nothing has worked.

Solution: Try using a different SIM card that is known to work. This may be a SIM issue as you can make a 911 call but can’t make a regular call.

Galaxy S3 GPS Issues After Update

Problem: Hello.  Ever since I downloaded KitKat onto my Samsung Galaxy S3 about 2 weeks ago, I can’t get a GPS single for verbal/map turn-by-turn navigation apps (Google, Scout, Waze).  It worked fine before the update.  When I spoke with a Verizon supervisor, she said that Google is working on this problem; she admitted that Verizon has gotten a gazillion calls about this. Also, my signal strength doesn’t seem to be as strong as previously.  I know that both of these issues are not just related to my home area since I encountered the same problems on a recent business trip in a different part of the country.  Is it possible to go back to the previous software program on my phone so the GPS can work properly?  Thoughts?  Thanks.

Solution: Downgrading the software of your device is possible however it requires a different procedure. You will need a copy of the previous ROM of your device, Odin, a PC with the necessary Samsung drivers, and USB Debugging enabled in Developer Options in your phone.

  • Download the appropriate firmware .zip file for your S3 (link above) and extract it on your PC. You’ll see a few .tar.md5 files inside.
  • From being powered off, start your S3 in Download Mode by pressing Volume Down + Power and Home button simultaneously.
  • Open Odin and connect your S3 to your PC with a USB cable. Wait until Odin recognizes the device (a blue box appears in Odin).
  • In Odin’s Files [Download] section, navigate to the relevant tar.md5 file/s in the downloaded S3 firmware. If you only have one file in the extracted firmware it goes in AP (in older versions of Odin, the AP box is called PDA). If you have multiple files, just plug them into the appropriate boxes in Odin.
  • Make sure the repartition box is not checked.
  • Click Start and wait. Once the procedure is complete your S3 will restart and you’ll be back to where you started from.

If your device does not automatically reboot then enter Recovery Mode by pressing Volume Up + Power + Home button simultaneously and then performing a Data Wipe/Factory Reset and wipe any cache partition. Then select Reboot System Now.

Galaxy S3 Display Issues

Problem: I had my gorilla glass cracked. I replaced it and now I am having problem with the screen.. When the screen gets a bit hard pressed the touch doesn’t work unless i lock my screen and unlock it again. Please help me. Thankyou!

Solution: There could be an issue with the way the screen was mounted. Try bringing it back to the service center and have it checked. If there is no problem with the way the screen is placed then it could be a problem with the replacement screen itself.

Galaxy S3 Photos All Gone

Problem: I have a galaxy s3 and I go to my gallery and all of my pics are completely gone I had pics from my San Diego trip and alot of pics of my boyfriend and most where dog pics all of it is completely gone and its making me very upset cause all of it is gone I need help I want all of them back

Solution: If you the photos are saved in the microSD card of your phone then try taking it out and have your PC read it. If your PC cannot find the photos then they might have been deleted. Try and check if you have Google+ Auto Backup in your device activated. This automatically backs up all your photos and videos to Google Photos Backups which can only be accessed by you.
