Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is now receiving a minor update. As is the case with updates of this nature, there are no big surprises in tow. But one crucial inclusion is the addition of WiFi Calling. Bug fixes and performance improvements are included as well. The update will change the software version to G900PVPU1ANE5.
The addition of WiFi Calling essentially means that you can connect to a nearby WiFi network and make unlimited calls and texts using VoIP, thus saving a large sum on cellular fees. Sprint has added support for three other Samsung devices over the course of the months, so it’s no surprise that Samsung’s flagship smartphone is getting the update too.
Sprint will begin the roll out today and it could take a couple of days or even longer to appear on all compatible devices. If you’re particularly impatient to get WiFi Calling on your Sprint Galaxy S5, you can try getting the update manually by navigating to Settings – System – System Update and tap on Update Now to check if it’s available.
