Google announced that the Samsung Gear Live and the LG G Watch smartwatches will be going up for pre-order via the Play Store later today, although no official word was mentioned on the price. But LG has now confirmed that its offering will cost $229 when it hits the Play Store on the 7th of July. There’s no word on the pricing of the Gear Live at the moment, but we expect it to be similarly priced given that it features almost the same hardware. This puts the pricing way below the likes of the Samsung Gear 2, Pebble Steel and the Qualcomm Toq making the two new Android Wear smartwatches an instant hit among the customers.
The fact that it will be available directly from the Play Store makes it even better for potential customers. The G Watch packs a 1.6 inch display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a 400 mAh battery. It comes with features like the always-on display, which provides notifications to the users in an instant along with gesture motions. Samsung’s offering on the other hand comes with the heart rate monitor built-in, which could sway potential buyers towards the Gear Live. Sadly for fans of the Moto 360, it won’t be available until later this year, so we still have some waiting to do.
