An avalanche of KitKat updates is all set to hit various Samsung devices. Verizon will begin rolling out the Android 4.4.2 update to the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S4 mini, while Sprint will be updating the S4 mini and the Galaxy Mega. All the updates are scheduled to start rolling out from today, and will be available over the air and, in case of Verizon, through the carrier’s Upgrade Assistant program.
Features and changes should be similar to what we’ve seen on KitKat for other Samsung devices, including faster performance, wireless printing support, white status bar icons, unified location control, closed captions, more emojis, updated versions of Samsung apps, improved battery life, and a few added bloatware, including Verizon’s Cloud and Emergency Alerts apps on the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S4 mini.
As usual, it will take a few days for the updates to reach every user, but can be forced to show up manually from the Settings » About phone » Software updates menu. Do give us a shout in the comments if you own any of the aforementioned phones and have received the notification for the KitKat update.
