Huawei officially unveils the Honor 6 flagship

Huawei Honor 6

Huawei is a company with large global ambitions. So any new device the company launches is bound to generate interest across the world. And to fuel our excitement even further, the company’s long rumored Honor 6 (Mulan) smartphone has just gone official in China sporting flagship level specs in a sleek aluminum frame with heat dissipation.

The handset is also the company’s first to sport the homegrown Kirin 920 octa core chipset, which has four Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores. The Honor 6 also comes with a 5 inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera and Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the Huawei Emotion UI 2.3. The handset sports a 4G LTE chip with support for speeds of up to 300 Mbps.

Huawei recently launched the Ascend Mate 2 in the U.S., so it’s likely that the Honor 6 could be announced in the region as well. But for the time being, it remains a China only offering with no word on the pricing or precise launch date as of yet.

While the lack of a QHD display might come off as alarming to some, the Honor 6 is a pretty capable handset. The chipset on board is said to be on par or even better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, so there’s plenty of reasons to be excited if you’re a Huawei fan.
