Galaxy S3 Wi-Fi Issue After Update

Problem: Hi, Last week i downloaded the latest updates for my Samsung S3 & since then i have troubles in my mobile concerning wi-fi. It keeps saying that my wi-fi connection is unstable & switch off from wi-fi. My phone became slow too but the main pb is not automatically connecting to wifi & that wherever i am i have wifi connection unstable. Please advise

Solution: This seems to be a common issue affecting owners of the S3 who just updated their devices. I’m assuming that you are in an area where the Wi-Fi signal is strong when this issue occurs. The first step that needs to be done is to try to refresh your phone and the router. This can be done by switching both devices off then turning them back on after around 30 seconds. After both devices are turned on check and see if the Wi-Fi connection is stable.

If this doesn’t solve the issue then you might want to wipe the cache of your device as this solution seems to work for most people. Just make sure to backup all your important data first.

  • Power the device off (remove and re-insert the battery).
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device vibrates; release only the Power key while still holding the other two keys.
  • When the Android system recovery menu displays; release the Volume Up and the Home key.
  • Navigate with the Volume keys to the “wipe cache partition” option and press the Power key to select.
  • Wait for the cache is cleared. While reboot system now is highlighted, press the Power key and reboot the device.

Galaxy S3 Data Retrieval Issue

Problem: Hi my phone was working just fine the other day when all of a sudden it turned off and restarted on its own. After it turned on it seemed to be loading fine until a screen that I’ve never seen before appeared. It was a black screen with the android symbol that said Do not turn off target. Downloading. I called tmobile and the same troubleshooting steps that I saw that you posted with no luck. They sent me a replacement, but my memory card was full and apparently saved everything on the phone itself. I really want to try to retrieve pics from my phone from a recent family vacation. Please help

Solution: Try connecting your old S3 to a laptop and see if it gets detected. If it can be detected then make sure you have the latest Kies software installed and follow the steps below.

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • click Data backup.
  • Mark the checkbox next to the content you want to back up. You can select all content by marking the checkbox next to Select all items. Click Backup.
  • Click Complete when the backup is finished.

Galaxy S3 Camera Failed

Problem: WheneverI use the camera app, it goes black screen, display the error message and crashes. I’ve already did the factory reset and saw no changes. I think this is a problem with the rear camera because when I go into diagnostic mode (typing  #0*# into the phone), I can still use the face camera. I know it’s not the camera module’s fault because I swap her phone’s motherchip with my own and both cameras work. (Except it somehow broke my external speakers… but it works her motherchip…)So I know there’s something wrong with the motherchips. Any more alternatives solutions to fix the phone?

Solution: Since you have already isolated any software issues that may be causing the problem then there’s a big possibility that this could already be a hardware concern.  However, you also mentioned that when you swapped motherboards then both cameras worked. This needs to be examined further by a trained technician to determine the exact cause of the problem. You already performed a factory reset on the device which eliminates the possibility of any third party app causing the issue. The best thing to do right now is to bring the device to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Galaxy S3 Won’t Switch From Wi-Fi To 4G

Problem: My S3 does not receive email if not in wifi radius. Verizon says there is no problem, but it can go for hours without receiving any emails, then as soon as I am in wifi radius, all emails come in. Any solutions?

Solution: Have you checked your phone if mobile data is activated? Sometimes the mobile data switch is turned off which makes it impossible to get emails. If your mobile data is on check and see if you can access the Internet or access the Google Play Store. This way you can check if you are really connected to your carrier’s data network. If your mobile connection status is normal then you might want to start your phone in safe mode to see if any third party app is causing this problem.

To get to safe mode just follow the procedure below.

  • Ensure the device is powered off
  • Press and hold the Power button until the Samsung logo appears then release.
  • With the Samsung logo on screen, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until Safe mode appears in the lower-left of the unlock screen then release.

Once in safe mode check and see if you can get your mails on a mobile connection. If you can, then you will have to uninstall any app that you recently installed on your device.

Galaxy S3 Won’t Turn On After Factory Reboot

Problem: Hello, Before I freak out and return my phone I am hoping someone can help. I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy 3 for 8 months and it’s been working without a problem. The last couple of days the battery has been draining rapidly and not recharging fast at all. After restarting a few times, there was no change so I backed everything up and did a factory reboot. Now the phone doesn’t turn on at all. I have taken out the battery, waited, put it back and plugged it iin. There is nothing on the screen and it doesn’t start when I press the power button. Can anyone help?

Solution: Try connecting your phone to a laptop and see if it gets recognized. If it doesn’t then disconnect it from the laptop, remove the battery, and try using a new battery. It’s quite possible that the battery may already be defective and is causing this problem.

Galaxy S3 Calendar issue

Problem: Hey, my google calendar events won’t appear in the stock calendar. They did before and now they disappeared. It says in settings it’s being synced but I can’t see them. Also when I go to calendars it only says Samsung calendar.

Solution: first make sure that your Internet connection is stable and also make sure that you have added the correct Google account. Then go into Settings>Application Manager>swipe over to All Apps>Calendar>then tap clear cache. Try to sync your calendar and see if it works this time. If it doesn’t then go into Settings>Application Manager>swipe over to All Apps>Calendar>then tap delete data. Re-sync your data. This works most of the time.

If this doesn’t work then there might be an app that’s causing this problem in which case you will have to boot into safe mode to check on it.

Galaxy S3 Music Stops Playing When Changing Volume

Problem: Hi I have this problem with my S3. Every time I want to change the volume either turn it up or down it stops after 2 second that I pressed it. I usually listen to Tunein and the radio stops so I have to press play all over again all the time but same happens with the original music player on the phone. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem or have anyone had the same problem?

Solution: This could be an issue with the app itself. Try uninstalling it then get the latest version from the Google Play Store and see if the problem still occurs. Before ruing the latest version of Tunein try playing a track from your stock music player and see if the problem still occurs. If it doesn’t then it’s the app that is causing it.

Galaxy S3 Camera Won’t Zoom Since Update

Problem: Hi, I’m having a problem with my camera not zooming. It has only started happening after the latest update. It says it can’t zoom in its current mode. It will zoom when put on video but not on camera.

Solution: There’s a big possibility that you are using your S3 in Easy Mode and in this case the camera zoom won’t work. To check on this go to Settings >My Device >Homescreen Mode. Try using Standard Mode and check and see if you can zoom right now. If that does not work try clearing the cache and data of the camera app. Go to Menu>Settings>More>Application Manager. Scroll to All and then down to Camera. From here you should be able to clear the cache and data.

Galaxy S3 Battery Drain Fast

Problem: I charged my phone through the night and it charged to 100%. I woke up took it off the charger and in .5 minutes it went down to 85% so I plugged it back into the charger and it went down to 24% instantly. I just bought a new battery too. Also this battery is 3200mah instead of the 2200mah battery I had before.

Solution: From the way you describe the issue it seems that you may have bought a bad battery. Try using another battery and see if the problem still occurs.

Also, there have been lots of complains regarding the latest update of the device regarding battery life. To make sure that you get the most out of your battery try to follow the tips below.

  • Use LTE Only When Needed
  • Turn off features which you don’t use
  • Monitor your mobile data such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC and turn them on only when needed
  • If possible connect using Wi-Fi instead of mobile data
  • Lower the brightness level of your display
  • Turn off GPS if not really needed
  • Minimize the number of widgets in your homescreen

Galaxy S3 Notifications Bar Does Not Pull Down

Problem: I can no longer drag down my notification bar, any idea how this happened and how u could get it working again?

Solution: This might be caused by certain apps that may have frozen the notification bar. Try doing a battery pull on your device and see if it helps. While your S3 is turned on take out its battery then place it back in after a few seconds. You will see that the notification bar now works. This is just a temporary solution though as the issue may occur again. In which case, you must start your device in safe mode and see if the problem still occurs. If it doesn’t then there’s an app that you installed that is causing this. You will have to determine which app this is and manually uninstall it.
