Facebook Messenger gets an update with the ability to send short video messages

Facebook Messenger Update

Facebook has just updated the Messenger app on Android with a short video message feature. The message will be of 15 seconds in length to convey your emotions accordingly. Also new to the app is the addition of a slightly larger thumbs up button, which is merely a cosmetic improvement and serves no real purpose.

The update changes the version number to 6.0, so it’s a pretty big update in the overall scheme of things.  The two changes are pretty much everything you’ll see on the app according to the changelog, so don’t expect any other changes under the hood. The update notification should arrive on your device anytime now. But if it hasn’t, you can head over to the Play Store link below and re-download the app to test out these newly added features.

The video message feature is a hint of things to come as the company is expected to launch the Slingshot app as a Snapchat competitor in the coming days. The app was accidentally published by Facebook very recently before eventually being taken down.
