Galaxy S III owners on AT&T’s network are in for a treat, as the device will start receiving its KitKat update from today. The updat for AT&T’s variant comes a little over a month after Sprint became the first carrier to update the Galaxy S III to KitKat, and will bump the software version on the device to I747UCUFNE4 while bringing over all the KitKat goodies that we have come to expect.
These include faster performance, wireless printing support, white status bar icons, option to select the default launcher and messaging apps, closed captions support, additional emojis, a unified location control menu, enhanced lockscreen with full-screen album art when playing music, enhancements to the keyboard, and general stability improvements. Also included are new versions of a few Samsung and Google apps, and some bloat in the form of a pre-loaded Beats Music app.
As usual, the update should start going out in batches, which means you might have to wait a day or two before it shows up on your Galaxy S III. You can try to pull it manually from the Settings » About phone » Software updates menu, or try your luck on Samsung’s Kies program on a computer.
