ASUS believed to be working on a low cost Android Wear smartwatch

Android Wear

A new report suggests that ASUS is looking to work on a low cost Android Wear based smartwatch in the coming months. While there’s no exact timeframe for the launch of this smartwatch, it is said that ASUS will take its time so as to not rush into the smartwatch segment.

The likes of LG and Samsung are already prepared to bring their smartwatches to the market starting July 7 while Motorola’s highly anticipated Moto 360 won’t arrive until later this year. Keeping that in mind, ASUS will have a lot to compete with when it gears up to launch its offering. However, cost cutting could be one way to stand apart from the competition.

ASUS has partnered with Google on both of its Nexus tablets, so it’s a given that there will be an Android Wear device on the horizon. HTC is also expected to join the bandwagon subsequently, so customers will have plenty of options to choose from by the end of this year.
