OnePlus began the Smash The Past promotion recently to endorse its upcoming flagship by encouraging users to smash their old devices and receive a OnePlus One for just $1. With the devices now shipping out to the winners of this contest, it has come to light that many of these units are reaching users without a charger and a SIM ejector tool.
It’s normal for us to assume that this was just another cost cutting measure from the company, but OnePlus has issued an explanation to one of the users saying – “Those boxes were not ready when we had to ship the devices and as we didn’t want to make you wait, we apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
So it seems like a genuine error from the OnePlus team, which is unfortunate. Thankfully, the device uses a standard micro USB charging cable, so you can use practically any cable and an AC adapter to charge the device. The SIM ejector tool on the other hand is a bit tricky as it’s not an accessory that you would find lying around in your house. It is hoped that OnePlus fixes these issues in the coming days, which is the only respite for the competition winners at the moment.
