Verizon is currently giving away a free LG G Pad 8.3 LTE or a $200 credit that’s good for purchasing other tablets with all new FiOS orders. FiOS is Verizon’s fiber-optic network that combines internet, phone and TV services – if you register for a connection before July 19th, you will receive a certificate for the LG G Pad 8.3 within 30 days of installation, which you can then make use of at Verizon stores before September 30 to get the tablet. You will need to enter a new two-year contract, but other than that, the tablet will be completely free.
The LG G Pad 8.3 launched last year with a screen size that LG believes is the perfect for tablets. Its specs include a 1920×1200 display, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras, LTE connectivity, a 4,600 mAh battery, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The tablet can be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat, though it remains to be seen if Verizon (or LG) will be offering another update down the line, which might make the two-year contract a hard thing to stomach.
