If you thought the Sony Xperia Z2 would not launch in the U.S. via major carriers, you might want to think again as a new image posted by the Sony Xperia Google+ page reveals a Verizon branded Xperia Z2 posing in the wilderness. The smartphone has a Verizon logo prominently visible on top which is usually where the Sony logo is placed. Some days ago we reported that the smartphone might be headed towards the U.S. as an exclusive from Verizon, so this gives the leak more credence.
We’re not sure if this is an accidental revelation or a deliberately posted teaser of what’s to come, but either way, users in the U.S. can now expect to get the premier Sony flagship from the country’s largest carrier in the days to come.
Sony has been virtually non-existent from the U.S. smartphone market as it only launches its smartphones via T-Mobile off contract. But the availability of a new flagship from a carrier like Verizon will certainly give Sony the much needed exposure in the U.S.
We’re awaiting confirmation from Sony or Verizon on the launch of the new smartphone. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
