There have been reports in the past which indicated that Samsung is prepping the Gear 2 Solo or Gear Solo smartwatch which will work as a standalone device rather than a companion accessory. And now, a device carrying the name has made its way to India for testing as spotted by an import document. The device listed here has the model number SM-R710 with a pricing of $205 (Rs 12,292) mentioned as well.
Going by this revelation, it is likely that the device could be announced in the coming days, although there’s no official word on its launch yet. It’s not clear at this point as to how different this unit will be compared to the standard Gear smartwatches. But Korean carriers have been expected to be launching a smartwatch with a USIM card slot for cellular connectivity on the go. How will this impact the battery life of the smartwatch? That’s something we’re quite keen to know.
