ASUS is known for its innovative products like the Padfone and the Transformer Pad. But it seems like the Taiwanese manufacturer has something even more unique cooking in its research labs as we speak. The company is scheduled to host an event at the Computex event which kicks off on the 3rd of June, where we could see a device which is essentially a mix of a smartphone, tablet and a notebook computer.
The teaser video shows a “Will It Blend?” style demo where the three devices are put in a mixer, hinting at what’s to come next week. ASUS is never the one to fall short of innovative ideas as we’ve seen over the course of the years and this one has certainly piqued our interest.
We’re quite eager to see how this form factor will be handled, especially given the portable nature of a smartphone and a tablet, while notebooks are simply too big for single handed operation. Perhaps ASUS is looking to strike a balance with a 11 inch touchscreen laptop carrying a slot to fit the smartphone on the back. But unlike the Padfone, we expect the laptop here to be independently operable without needing the phone to be docked.
Stay tuned to TDG for all the info on the Computex 2014 event as it unfolds next week.
