The Atrix HD is almost two years old, but it’s still a handset that Motorola has promised will be getting updated to Android 4.4 KitKat. Sadly, the company is making users wait quite a bit, and the latest update does nothing to shorten that wait. Motorola is currently rolling out an update to the Atrix HD, one that simply includes security enhancements but none of the KitKat goodies that people are actually waiting for.
Of course, it’s still a good sign that Motorola hasn’t forgotten about the phone and is providing some updates for it. Actually, this one seems to be a fix for the Heartbleed bug that took the internet by storm a few weeks back, so it’s certainly a welcome update. Still, it would be nice if the ex-Google company can get around to bringing the device to KitKat, before people start upgrading to a newer device as their two-year contracts come to an end.
The update should be available on your phone now, but if it isn’t, you can always pull it manually through the Settings » About phone » System updates menu. If it still doesn’t show up, then you’ll probably have to wait for a few days, though it should arrive before this week is over.
