LG’s display unit today took the wraps off the long awaited 5.5 inch 2K resolution display panel, carrying a pixel density of 538ppi. This comes at the right time as the Korean manufacturer is expected to launch the LG G3 later this month with the display.
LG is expected to begin mass production of these panels shortly. The display is just 1.2mm in thickness with the side bezels only being 1.15mm, so it’s clear that LG is sticking to its strengths from previous production methods.
LG claims this display will have “four times the image resolution of HD panels and 1.8 times higher resolution than a full HD panel,” telling us how advanced its new display is. It will be quite interesting to see how these displays will affect the battery life of devices.
The company announced the LG isai FL handset in Japan sporting the said display and ultra slim side bezels earlier today, so we know what to expect from the LG G3 later this month.
