Previous reports indicate that Samsung will be releasing a spin-off of its Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone which is called the Galaxy S5 Prime. This upcoming device is basically a premium version of the Galaxy S5 which ditches the plastic frame in favor of a metal frame (possibly aluminum). Fresh live photos of the device have been spotted at phonearena which shows its front and back portion.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime still comes with a dimpled back finish however it is shiny which indicates that it is made of a metal material. The speaker which is positioned at the back of the Galaxy S5 is now located at the bottom of the Galaxy S5 Prime. Aside from these physical external changes improvements have also been made internally.
This new premium device now uses a quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU as opposed to a Snapdragon 801 CPU used by the S5. It also uses an Adreno 420 GPU instead of an Adreno 330 GPU and comes with a higher 3GB of RAM instead of 2GB.There’s also mention that this upcoming device will be using Android 4.4.3 straight out of the box. This is going to be the first smartphone of Samsung to feature a QHD 5.2-inch display which is slightly larger than the 5.1-inch display of the S5.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to debut in June, possibly during the company’s June 12 event which will be held in New York City and is expected to have a price tag of $880.
Since these photos are not official then it’s best to take these with a grain of salt until the company makes an official release.
