Extreme Power Saving Mode, one of the most touted features on the HTC One M8, is now rolling out to more variants of HTC’s latest flagship. HTC is rolling out an update to the unlocked and developer editions of the One M8 in the US that includes Extreme Power Saving Mode, along with camera and gallery enhancements.
Extreme Power Saving Mode is quite similar to Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving Mode and helps in increasing the battery life on the device substantially, by disabling most of the smart functions and leaving only basic features like calls, SMS and manual email sync enabled. It wasn’t enabled on the US models of the phone on launch, but HTC has been moving pretty quickly with updates, so it should soon be available on all HTC One M8’s out there.
The update carries software version 1.54.1540.9 and weighs 117.98 MB. As usual, the rollout will be staged so you might not be notified of the update immediately, though you can do a manual check in the Settings -> Software updates menu.
