We’ve been hearing a lot about an upcoming device from HTC called the HTC One (M8) “Ace” which is a variant of the company’s current flagship smartphone model. What makes this upcoming device different is that it is said to be cheaper than the HTC One (M8). This means that customers who want to get the flagship model of the company but can’t due to budget concerns may opt to get the Ace variant.
Just recently a fresh photo as well as the specs of the HTC One (M8) “Ace” has been released online. This budget HTC One variant sports a 5-inch display and is reportedly going to break cover this June 3. The leaked technical specification of the device is listed below.
- 801 quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon processor (8974AC)
- 5 inches 1080P screen, Super LCD 3
- 2GB RAM +16 / 32GB ROM (Support Micro SD card, maximum extension 128 GB)
- Rear 13 million pixel back-illuminated camera + front 5 million pixel camera
- Android 4.4, Sense 6.0
- 2600mAh Lithium Battery
The specs are quite similar to the current flagship model of the company. Both devices use the same Snapdragon 801 processor, 5-inch 1080p display, 2 GB of RAM, Android 4.4, and Sense 6.0. The Ace even comes with the same HTC BoomSound technology.
Based on the leaked photo the Ace has a similar design to the HTC One (M8). There are however quite a few changes made such as the use of plastic material over metal. This allows the device to have a low selling price. This doesn’t mean however that the device will be poorly made, we’re sure HTC will come up with a solid device even though it makes use of plastic.
Another difference is that this upcoming device will only use a single 13MP rear camera. The photo however shows what appear to be two cameras located at the back. This might mean that the device will have a 13MP main camera while the other camera is 2MP which allows for depth information to be captured.
As far as pricing goes no official information has been released yet. Experts however speculate that the HTC One M8 Ace will be priced just under $500 which is a good estimate for a device with these specs. China is reportedly going to be the first market to get this device next week which will come in red, blue, and black colors.
