Google has been making sweeping changes to many of its Android apps recently, and the search giant has now turned its attention to the Google+ app. A major update is rolling out for the official app of Google’s not-so-popular social network, bringing a redesigned UI and a plethora of new and improved features.
The update brings over a colored action bar to the app, similar to what we’ve seen on apps like Keep and Play Music. In terms of features, Google has introduced Auto Awesome Stories – this will combine a user’s photos, videos and the places visited into “beautiful travelogues”, while adding the usual effects we’ve seen on the Auto Awesome feature for photos. The update also brings Auto Awesome Movies to Android, and also adds the ability to create animated GIFs and photobooth-style images right on the device.
Other changes include support for larger photo libraries for quicker access to multiple photos, sorting of photos by date, a new navigation menu for easier switching between different sections of the app, easier content sharing, and more. As usual, the update is rolling out in stages and could take a few days to reach everyone, but you can download the APK file from the link below and update manually if playing the waiting game isn’t your thing.
