Could the Galaxy S5 mini, the inevitable miniature variant of the Galaxy S5, be launched as the Galaxy S5 Dx? According to an image leaked by evleaks, that could certainly be the case. The prolific leakster has posted an image of a Galaxy S5 Dx on Samsung’s official UK website – the URL of the page mentions model number SM-G800, which has been associated with the Galaxy S5 mini, suggesting the phone could launch with a different moniker than its predecessor like the recently launched Galaxy K zoom.
No details on the phone can be seen in the image, but it does confirm that the Galaxy S5 Dx will come in more colors than its flagship brother, while carrying the same design including the textured back. The heart rate sensor isn’t in attendance, however – that’s not surprising as the Galaxy S5 Dx isn’t a flagship device, though consumers will have to buy Samsung’s Gear smartwatch or fitness tracker if monitoring their heart rate is something they are looking forward to.
A previous leak had claimed that the Galaxy S5 mini will sport a quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, a 4.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2,100 mAh battery, and Android 4.4 KitKat with the latest iteration of Samsung’s TouchWiz UX. The phone is also expected to be water- and dust-resistant – there’s still no word on when it will be officially announced, but it should be pretty soon now that it has been listed on its manufacturer’s official website.
