Every HTC One M8 comes with free 50GB of Google Drive storage for two years. However, since launch, this offer hasn’t been working for owners of the HTC One M8 on the AT&T, with users failing to redeem that extra cloud space due to technical issues. The carrier promised a fix for the problem by mid-May, and true to its word, is now rolling out the fix to the device.
The update has version number 1.58.502.1 and should start appearing on all devices soon, though you might need to do a manual check in the Settings » About » Software updates menu. Once the update is installed, opening the Google Drive app should show you an option to redeem the offer. If that doesn’t happen, HTC recommends clearing the data for the Drive app (can be done by heading into Settings » Apps, swiping left to reach the All tab, then clicking on Drive in the list of apps) and then logging in again, which will (hopefully) do the trick.
Well, what are you waiting for? Go grab that update and the free cloud storage that you may or may not use.
