According to rumors coming out of Taiwan, Xiaomi’s upcoming tablet could sport a high resolution 7.9 inch 2048 x 1536 resolution display, thus rivaling the display of the Apple iPad. It is also said that the Chinese manufacturer is in talks with Intel as well as NVIDIA to supply the chipset for this new high-end tablet. It was initially reported that the company will announce its first tablet on the 23rd of April, but that didn’t materialize.
This rumored tablet could cost as low as $160 according to Taiwanese sources, which could be more than competitive considering the hardware expected to be on offer. This tablet has sparked off interest among global users as well since the manufacturer is expected to expand into international markets soon. The company formally started its global expansion with the launch of the mi.com website where several devices will be on offer.
It will be interesting to see how the manufacturer will handle this global launch, especially in markets like the U.S. which is dominated by Apple and Samsung at the moment.
