An HTC executive has confirmed that the Verizon branded One Max smartphone will start getting the Android 4.4 update starting April 7. The device is currently running Android 4.3, although unlocked variants have already received the update.
The information was given away by Mo Versi on Twitter, so it’s coming from a legitimate source. The update to Android 4.4.2 will also come with the customary Sense 5.5 user interface as you might have noticed with any recent HTC update. Verizon unsurprisingly is among the last to send out the update to its HTC phablet.
This is going to be a phased rollout of course, so don’t lose patience if you don’t see the update notification by Monday. Also make sure you head over to the settings and check if an update is available to download manually, instead of waiting for the notification to pop up.
The One Max is not one of the most popular phablets going around, so the least the HTC or carriers could do is provide timely updates. It’s good to see that an update has finally arrived for the Verizon variant of the handset, even though it’s a little late in the day.
