Sony claims the LED flash bug on the Xperia Z1 Compact was only seen on a few units

Xperia Z1 Compact

Users of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact have long complained of issues regarding the LED flash, which appeared to be interfering with the camera sensor, resulting in damaged looking images. This has now been acknowledged by Sony Germany, mentioning that the issue was only spotted on a few units of the smartphone.

The manufacturer has assured that the issue has now been rectified in its assembly units and shouldn’t be spotted in newer devices. Unfortunately, since this is a hardware issue, users who are already facing it have no fix for this. Sony hasn’t clarified if it will offer replacements, but that seems like the logical thing to do considering that the Z1 Compact is one of the company’s premium devices.

However, this won’t be a concern if you’re looking to pick up a new Xperia Z1 Compact from the store. So make sure you give the handset a look if you’re interested in getting one of the best ‘mini’ smartphones of the year.
